Well peeps here we are again back for another season at Hillmorton locks with all your regular keepers. I hope you have all had a pleasant winter and are raring to go boating again. Been quite on the blog front over the winter but hopefully we will have something of interest here for you every week from now on.

First the good news Hillmorton were once again the busiest locks in 2017 so we need all you boaters to come and see us so we can retain our title for another year. We've made a good start by having over 100 boats in our first week despite the not so friendly weather.

Those of you boating through the locks this year, or visiting us on foot, should notice a fair bit of additional activity as one of our team of lock keepers has, by using her considerable persuasive powers, got us to enter the locks environ into the Rugby in Bloom competition. So you may notice extra flower planting popping up around the site. The miniature daffs are already giving us a good showing.

Finally I would like to give you a date for your diary, Friday 17th August. This is our Mcmillan coffee morning (all day) where you get the chance to support a wonderful charity AND get to sample some of the lock keepers finest baking.

Speak to you next week.

About Me

I have been a volunteer Lock Keeper with the Canal and River Trust for over 5 years now giving out advice where I think it's needed, whether it's taken or not is up to the recipients, and helping when required, again this help is not mandatory. Working at Hillmorton throughout the summer and then Watford through the winter just to keep my hand in. When Im not working on locks you can find me up and down the canal network on my very own 47 foot narrowboat.
