THIS WEEK AT THE LOCKS

Well hello PEEPS it's been a few weeks since my last blog, I'd like to say it's because I've been so busy but I think the hot weather may have something to do with it. However now we are here what news from the front. Well boat numbers are up on this time last year in fact we've just passed the 6000 mark (yes that is 6000) and are looking forward to a record breaking year. However I am sure you have heard that there are to be restrictions placed on most locks on the system including Hillmorton. This is an attempt to preserve the existing water to see us through to the end of the season. This may result in little delays at Hillmorton but use the time to come and have a chat with your favourite lock keepers. At least with the recent rain we have found out our water butt works.

Other news these two strange people (see photo below) were spotted dancing round the trees, what were they doing.

Well it's vollies Kev and Vince and here's another picture to explain all.

have been pretty lucky

So there it is PEEPS our Macmillan coffee morning is August 17th so come along and sample the lock keepers baking and support a wonderful cause.

Other news is that volley Kev has put the finishing touches to out book swap facility. Lovely job Kev looks like it's been there as long as the locks.

On a slightly downbeat note I have to report an increase in litter particularly EMPTY beer cans thrown into the weir by the top lock. Normally we have been pretty lucky at Hillmorton but an even stranger item that volley Jane came across was a colostomy bag. Surely you would notice you had "LOST" one of those.

However onwards and upwards and lets hope it's the last one.

So don't forget PEEPS make a note in your diary Friday 17th August for our ALL DAY COFFEE MORNING.

See you soon.

The Golden Windlass.
